Accelerated Reader Program
Accelerated Reader Program
is a reading
incentive program that involves reading a book and then taking a computerized
test about that particular book. There are
Accelerated Reader Book Lists at Lawrence Elementary and the Canton Public Library for your child to browse.
This list gives titles, authors, and levels such as a 5 which means
5th grade, and so then 5.4 would mean 5th grade, 4th month.
Each book is
assigned a point value based upon its degree of difficulty. If your child
successfully answers all the questions, they will be awarded the full points
assigned for that book. If not, the points awarded are based on the number
of questions they answered correctly.
Each month, your child will need to earn
Accelerated Reader points towards reading grade.
5AR Points = 50 points
4 AR Points =
40 points
3 AR Points =
30 points
2 AR Points =
20 points
1 AR Point =
10 points
This system is also used to earn a monthly "Book
It" coupon for a free personal pizza from Hot Stuff, as well as
accumulating points to earn prizes from the Lawrence Elementary Library.
